Moving Part 1 ( Home Buying Story)
Moves have to made to go on living. The human heart beats until it stops and the body ceases functioning. Death comes when everything ceases functioning incase you were wondering.
Before all of that though, we are in a constant state of motion. Breathing, thinking, digesting, etc. These moves are necessary to sustain life but how we make these moves define how we're living.
Buying a house is a move that is not a big as who you chose to marry or what you chose to major, but a move none the less. It's a move that I've made and at the moment I have no regrets about. I'm 23 though so that could always change in the future.
This move, like most you'll make, is like walking into the dark. You go to a website and build up the courage the submit your interest. Seconds later you get called by few different people all wanting to help you out. Finally one person says the right things and connects you with an agent. Agent calls or emails moments later asks you if you've been pre-approved and your first thought is... "What does that mean0? pre-approved?" Since you've already started this journey into the dark you ask. They explain that basically being pre-approved means that you've been cleared by a mortgage loan company. That means that you meet the right criteria for the mortgage loan company to give you a loan which is dependent on credit and debt to income ratio.
You call up a popular company you've heard about from the radio. They answer very enthusiastically and find out the information mentioned previously and bam you have yourself a pre-approval letter. This same company puts you in contact with a real-estate agent and you go from there. The agent seems nice but hasn't contacted as quickly as you wanted so you decide well why not contact another one. The one you contact calls you right away asks how much you've been pre-approved for and what your looking for.
The next day you get email that link to the MLS Matrix. Which gives you the most reliable list in relation to what you're looking for. The email says to pick a few out and you do. you notice that the ones listed are all close the maximum amount you've been approved for. Regardless of this you pick a few out and email them back to your agent. The agent sets up sometimes to go and see the places you've picked out.
The day is here and you meet your agent at the first property on the list. You walk in and notice that the picture online didn't include all the bad things that are wrong with the place. All these bad things are not crazy but do make the place unable to be moved into right away. after a few more minutes your off to the next place. This place still has the owners inside and all the furniture. You like the place but your realtor tells you that with all the furniture inside you really can't see if there is anything damaged which is a good point. After this place you see a few more but one really sticks out to you. It's Move in ready, super spacious, is everything your really looking for. You decide that you'll make an offer on the place. Which seems scary at first but really isn't that bad because the agent says that an offer is just an offer. Nothing has been signed and you can still back out which is nice to know.
Later that night the agent calls say that the home you looked at is not in the budget. The HOA is too high for your debt to income which sucks. He goes onto say that all of the homes you looked at were just a bit higher than the mortgage company would allow you to buy. So it's back to the drawing board.
